KINA GRANNIS & IMAGINARY FUTURE

With a line leading outside the venue in the west end, the excitement built for Kina Grannis. Kina built her platform in this day and age through YouTube, marking covers and feature performances growing her fanbase.

Opening the night was Imaginary Future also known as Jesse Epstein, he reveled in the engaged crowd, with many songs dedicated to his wife, Kina Grannis. Jesse sang delicately of his love. With a crooning voice, the venue was strung on his every word. Following Jesse’s set was his counterpart, Kina. She gracefully took centre stage and performed for the crowd. In between, she recalled stories behind her songs and one eventful trip leading to her incarceration in Southeast Asia.

Kina Grannis so easily enchanted the venue with her soft-sounding tracks, it was Kina, her guitar, and the mixed ages crowd. Both Jesse and Kina produced their own chosen cover songs with Jesse serenading the crowd with “Lean on Me”, and Kina later in the night singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love”.

It was clear both performers are authentic talents in this era, with a guitar in hand both provided a minimized musical experience. One to remember for its simplicity beyond words.
