mewithoutYou said farewell to Canada this Sunday night at the Danforth Music Hall. The Philadelphia rock band postponed the band’s end till 2022 following COVID-19 pandemic delays. The band was joined by the duo Why? to open the night and began saying their goodbyes to their Canadian fans with a resounding set.
The 5-piece took the stage with flowers on their mic stand, a touching note to the band’s departure where vocalist Aaron Weiss also spoke on the band’s end, reporting on any potential return in the future as uncertain. Nonetheless, the band played a passionate set including ripping through tracks “Gentlemen,” “Grist for the Malady Mill” and “Red Cow” from the 2015 record Pale Horses.
The musicians all played in time with one another feeding from each other’s energies and the crowd’s. Although a sad note aired throughout the room, the fans graciously sang and reacted accordingly to seeing mewithoutYou on a Canadian stage for the last time.
