Originally from Costa Mesa, dance/electronic/rap duo Neffex have harnessed the power of social media to become online musical juggernauts. With over 2 million YouTube subscribers (as of this publication), lead singer Bryce Savage and musician Cameron Wales have become sensational leaders in producing weekly copyright-free bangers for social media creators and influencers, as well as fostering one of the most fervently ready-to-party fan bases out there. Their set at the Troubadour this Thursday was much-anticipated, included singles from their new EP, the infectiously danceable “Sunday,” and “It’s My Life.” Other songs, including Eminem-styled “Never Give Up,” head-banging, “Flirt,” festival-ready, “Best Of Me” and something you could envision David Guetta or Steve Aoki producing, “Cold,” had everyone dancing with huge smiles. To give you a sense of how powerful a tool streaming platforms have become, I saw at least half of the crowd sporting Neffex merch, with several people even having prominent Neffex tattoos…mind you, this band has yet to put out an album and this was one of their first live shows. As their popularity soars, you’re going to be seeing more of these two. Check out their YouTube channel here.
